Golfing on Jura is a Dream, Bucket List, Luxury Golf Destination

The exclusive golf resort of Ardfin can be found on the Southern shores of the Island of Jura with spectacular view across the Sound of Jura to the Island of Islay. Ardfin Estate is12,000 acre of beautiful wilderness where you can escape daily life, golf and be indulged in luxurious accommodation.

The Golf course sits on the estate of Ardfin five star private resort.

Here at Mairead Hume Harris Tweed Golf Collection we were invited to stay and play at this unique Island experience.

Our journey took us from Gleneagles to Jura by private helicopter, what a trip with PDG Helicopters taking in the ariel views of the mainland of Scotland over to the Inner Hebridean Island of Jura. We arrived onto the private estate and were greeted by amazing hosts and some of the local deer population.

The golf course was designed by the great golf architect Bob Harrison and took 6 years to complete. It is already acclaimed to be one of the most spectacular in the world.

We were invited to play the course that afternoon after a lavish lunch in the clubhouse.  There was a stiff breeze from the Sound of Jura to contend with but our caddies kept us on track throughout the day. The course is laid out along the cliff shoreline on either side of Jura House. The first seven holes play are to the east of the Estate House and then you cross to the west of the house and play along the shoreline with some of the most spectacular views to be had, the final fours holes are all uphill.

One of the most amazing holes on the course is the 11th which plays down to the boat house, an iconic structure which was completely renovated on the furthest point of the course. Its bothy like style but beautiful inside and the hospitality is tremendous and much appreciated.

After golf we were lucky enough to stay over in the luxurious private lodge accommodation. The decor and facilities are designed around the golfer with comfort and convenience top of the list. The genius heated cupboard in each room to dry off your golf gear in inclement weather is just one of elements of luxury to be expected at Ardfin. Jura House is available for groups or families on an exclusive basis.

They have their own Estate Tweed and perhaps, one day,  we will be privileged enough to create a bespoke range of tweed golf accessories for Ardfin in the future. Watch this space.

On that day our bag was dressed to impress with Macleod Harris Tweed Set to reflect the natural elements of this Scottish Island.

Ardfin is quite simply a golf trip of a lifetime and one we will never forget.

If you ever get the chance to visit .... treat yourself!
