Golfing on the Isle of Arran – A Hidden Gem of Scottish Golf
We are just back from an unforgettable golfing escape to the Isle of Arran, where we stayed in the beautiful Douglas Hotel in Brodick and teed off at the stunning Shiskine Golf Club and what a course! With its 12-hole layout, dramatic coastal views, and quirky charm, Shiskine is like nowhere else in Scotland. A true bucket-list experience!
But Shiskine is just the start.
Did you know Arran is often called “Scotland in Miniature”and it has 7 golf courses to prove it? Here's a quick guide to what else the island has to offer golfers of all abilities:

Brodick Golf Club
Set just behind the Douglas Hotel, Brodick GC offers 18 relaxed holes with beautiful views of Goatfell, Arran’s highest peak. A perfect course for a gentle round with local charm.
Lamlash Golf Club
Just south of Brodick, Lamlash is a hillier course that rewards you with incredible views over the Clyde. Don’t be fooled by its size—it’s tricky, tight, and full of character.
Whiting Bay Golf Club
On the island’s east coast, Whiting Bay is a short 18-hole course with elevation changes and panoramic views that will test your shot-making and leave your camera full.
Corrie Golf Club
A 9-hole course that's big on heart, Corrie is unpretentious, welcoming, and ideal for a relaxed afternoon hit with friends.
Lochranza Golf Course
This 11-hole course is a great family spot, and you might even be joined by red deer wandering the fairways! It's golf, wild Scottish scenery, and nature all rolled into one.
Machrie Bay Golf Club
On the west coast, Machrie Bay offers 9 scenic holes right by the sea, plus a tea room for a post-round slice of cake. Friendly, traditional, and full of charm.

If you’re looking for a laid-back, breathtakingly beautiful golf trip, the Isle of Arran is the place. Each course has its own unique character, and the combination of warm welcomes and rugged scenery makes for an unforgettable golf getaway.
